For 130 years our guests have been the centre of attention
Tradition and hospitality of the Lechner family
In 1870 my great-grandparents Barbara and Josef Lechner started running the castle inn in Altenburg (town Aschbach) close to the former Salt Road (Salzstraße).
When this road was moved they bought the Wagner-estate on the new road where they ran a guesthouse combinated with a farm.
Their son, my father Josef Lechner, was keen to continue with this tradition and had a dream:
"Wouldn’t it be marvellous to offer all the travellers and cyclists a relaxing place of rest here, with the wonderful view over the bavarian highlands?”
However, this dream was almost shattered.
Adolf Hitler himself wanted to build a mansion for his friend Mussolini at this beautiful spot.
Luckily, history took a different course and my father was able to realize his dream.
In 1950 the guesthouse at the Aschbach hill was built and soon became a popular destination for holidaymakers from nearby munich. This is how a dream became reality!
I am proud of continuing to live and develop this dream together with my wife for more than 40 years. Also, it is nice to know that the dream will go on with my son and always with the same aim:
Taking care of you, our guests, with excellent service!
Yours sincerely,
Rainer Lechner
